Allie Fontanese

Buffalo native Coach Allie returns to the fabled waters of the Lamoille River as interim assistant coach under her longtime mentor and former coach, Vicki Edwards. An alum of the program, Allie joined in the fall of ‘14 and rowed all four years at UVM, graduating in the spring of ‘18.  Here, she made UVM program history with a bronze medal in the Collegiate Women’s 4+ at the 2017 Head of the Charles. Shortly after graduation, she emerged from retirement when she was recruited for a fifth year at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ. As a Scarlet Knight, Allie flourished and again made program history, earning the team’s first medal at the BIG 10 Conference Championships: a silver in the Women’s 2V4+.

Outside of rowing, Allie holds a day job in the German fashion world, maintaining efficient and effective ecommerce operations for Bogner, a legacy German clothing brand with over 90 years of global success. When she’s not coaching or working, she’s running, eating, or maybe sleeping.

Some of her hobbies include but are not limited to: baking, falling asleep at 8pm, skiing, and making bad jokes.

Allie resides in Winooski with her partner and their small zoo of two dogs and one cat, who surprisingly, all tolerate each other.
